ಎಲ್ಲೊ ಹುಡುಕಿದೆ ಇಲ್ಲದ ದೇವರ ಕಲ್ಲು ಮಣ್ಣಿಗಳ ಗುಡಿಯೊಳಗೆ


ಇಲ್ಲೆ ಇರುವ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಸ್ನೇಹಗಳ ಗುರುತಿಸದಾದೆನು ನಮ್ಮೊಳಗೆ

ಎಲ್ಲಿದೆ ನಂದನ? ಎಲ್ಲಿದೆ ಬಂಧನ? ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಇವೆ ಈ ನಮ್ಮೊಳಗೆ


ಒಳಗಿನ ತಿಳಿಯನು ಕಲಕದೆಯಿದ್ದರೇ ಅಮೃತದ ಸವಿಯಿದೆ ನಾಲಗೆಗೆ

ಹತ್ತಿರವಿದ್ದು ದೂರನಿಲ್ಲುವೆವು ನಮ್ಮ ಅಹಮ್ಮಿನ ಕೋಟೆಯಲಿ


ಎಷ್ಟು ಕಷ್ಟವೊ ಹೊಂದಿಕೆಯಂಬುದು ನಾಲ್ಕು ದಿನದ ಈ ಬದುಕಿನಲಿ

This is a famous poem by poet G S Shivarudrappa.He was 

professor 

of Kannada at Bangalore 

University.He was the second poet to be conferred 'Rastrakavi"title 

by Karnataka government other being K

 V Puttappa ,known by pen name Kuvempu who was G S 

Shivarudrappa's teacher.Ealier 

Manjeswara govinda pai had received this title from then Madras 

government

.

The title of above poem is Anveshane meaning- Search

Meaning is roughly as follows

Made a search for non existent God  amidst temples of mud and stone

Failed to recognize the love and kinship existing near home

where is heaven?where is the bond?All are there within

If you leave the inner essence unstirred that is nectar

Stay we near but remain far in the fort of Ego

How tough is it to adjust and live this life of four days

ಆದರೂಹಣತೆ ಹಚ್ಚುತ್ತೇನೆ ನಾನು

ಕತ್ತಲೆಯನ್ನು ದಾಟುತ್ತೇನೆಂಬ ಭ್ರಮೆಯಿಂದಲ್ಲ .

ಇರುವಷ್ಟು ಹೊತ್ತು ನಿನ್ನ ಮುಖ ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಮುಖ ನೀನು ನೋಡಬಹುದೆಂಬ 

ಒಂದೇ ಒಂದು ಆಸೆಯಿಂದ. 

ಹಣತೆ ಆರಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ನೀನು ಯಾರೋ ಮತ್ತೆ ನಾನು ಯಾರೋ.

Above Hanate  is another poem of GSS which says 

'Still I light the lamp

Not in false hope of overcoming darkness

But in the hope that we can see each others face

After the lamp is extinguished 

who will you and me be?'
