Many patients tell me that they have low B P disease. But as a matter of fact there is no such
disease. Normal B P for human beings is 120/80 and if more than 140/90 it is high BP or
hypertension. But many people have there B P 100/70 ,or 90/70 .It is normal for them and do not
cause any symptom. As long as you are able to walk and have normal urine output nothing to worry.
If BP suddenly falls due to hemorrhage ,heart attack or loose motion etc it requires attention.
In elderly people and diabetics have at times a problem called postural hypotension i.e. BP which
is normal in supine (lying down) falls down significantly when the person sits up or stands. This is
due to weakness of nerves called autonomic neuropathy.
Again in rare disease of adrenal gland called Addison's disease also one may have low BP.
